On August 29 2010, a Staten Island car accident occurred as a result of drunk driving. The car crash, in Greenridge (Staten Island) killed 2 men and injured 4 others. Now, after 6 months, the police have identified the man they believe was the individual responsible for the accident. The 21 year old man, now named as Nicholas Marchese, will no be charged with first degree aggravated vehicular homicide and indicted on 26 counts. The man, from Grasmere (Staten Island), was the driver of the Nisan Altima that was responsible for the car crash at the Arthur Kill and Arden Road intersection last year. The men were thrown from the vehicle on impact and so it was initially a challenge for the police to identify the driver. D.A Daniel Donovan stated that “when the police arrived, there was no one in the driver’s seat…there was a lot of ‘I don’t remember who was driving [from the boys]’”.

The 21 year old will now be tried in court. His crime carries a minimum sentence of 1-3 years, and a maximum of 25 years in prison. This means that the 21 year old may be 46 before he is released from prison. He faces 6 counts of vehicular homicide. Marchese had a blood alcohol level f over 0.18 (over 2 and a half times the legal limit), he killed 2 people, who have been named as Jeffrey Capretta (20) and Daniel Peluso (19) and injured 4 people.
